APPLYING FOR A GRANT

Burgum Foundation’s application process is streamlined to ensure we collect only the necessary information to determine funding potential for a project, program, or organization. Before developing a proposal, prospective grantees should ensure their request fits with Burgum Foundation’s Interest Areas.  Calls or emails to Burgum Foundation are welcome to help assess fit.

Currently, Burgum Foundation is welcoming grant applications for the 2022-2023, and 2023-2024 school years. The parameters for Burgum Foundation's Open Application are as seen below:

  • Burgum Foundation will be considering applications for grants up to $15,000

  • Any rural ND school or service provider can apply for these grants. Our foundation defines rural as any community with the exclusions of: Fargo/West Fargo, Grand Forks, Bismarck/Mandan, and Minot

  • All grants should be related to school-based programming. This could include but is not limited to: behavioral health funding, staff professional development, staff education, academic materials, field trips, or dual credit opportunities

If interested, fill out the Open Application and submit to julia@burgumfoundation.org

Burgum Foundation does not have proposal deadlines.  We regularly review grant proposals to ensure timely responses to grant requests.

Burgum Foundation does not have established maximum and minimum dollar amounts.  Grant amounts vary depending on the project and the organization.

Burgum Foundation makes grants only to nonprofit organizations that qualify for public charity status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.  Most of our grants are limited to organizations located in North Dakota or serving the people of North Dakota.
