APPLYING FOR A GRANT

Burgum Foundation’s application process is streamlined to ensure we collect only the necessary information to determine funding potential for a project, program or organization.  Before developing a proposal, prospective grantees should ensure their request fits with Burgum Foundation’s Interest Areas.  Calls or emails to Burgum Foundation are welcome to help assess fit.

Proposal Guidelines

Submit a 1-7 page proposal to info@burgumfoundation.org.  Proposals must be in pdf or docx format and must include:

  •  organization name, address, contact information and contact person

  •  a brief description of your organization

  •  a brief description of the need your organization addresses

  •  an overview of the project, program or operational expenses for which funding is requested

  •  a summary of the total project cost and funding requested

  •  information regarding other sources of potential funding

  •  information or statistics regarding efficacy, sustainability and impact

  •  proof of 501(c)(3) status

Burgum Foundation does not have proposal deadlines.  We regularly review grant proposals to ensure timely responses to grant requests.

Burgum Foundation does not have established maximum and minimum dollar amounts.  Grant amounts vary depending on the project and organization.

Written proposals, and site visits when possible, serve as the basis for evaluating grant requests.

Priority is given to organizations that are efficiently managed, financially viable and operate effective programs.

Burgum Foundation makes grants only to nonprofit organizations that qualify for public charity status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.  Most of our grants are limited to organizations located in North Dakota or serving the people of North Dakota.
